Dolce, Dolce, Dolce!

I have always loved how an all-white ensemble can be fresh and crisp yet pure and romantic at the same time. Few other colours look as stunning when worn from head to toe and there was very little I could do to stop myself from saving practically every image from the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2011 RTW collection. The fluid lines, scalloped edges and lace detailing give the impression of innocence and purity yet the short lengths and hint of lingerie make it oh so fun! However my favourite part was the way the all black and subtle leopard print look even more amazing once injected into a sea of white. Nothing I didn’t love about this whole collection, oh except maybe that I don’t own every single piece!

Biker-Chic??

I’ve been a long time fan of the leather jacket but only a recent owner (as a fashion student, the $$ didn’t exactly roll in. Funny that!). So you can imagine my excitement at the purchase of a biker-look real leather jacket which featured just the right amount of crop and crinkle. Immediately countless potential outfits ran through my head. It was the perfect piece. It was going to make all my girlie dresses and outfits that little bit edgier. It was going to make a plain-jeans-and-tank outfit so much better. Just as my Country Road boots made everything I wore jump a few notches on the cool-scale, I just knew this jacket would make everything I wore look so off-duty model… which I am not!

Now normally my faded blue ripped skinnies and CR boots combo is so perfect that it doesn’t matter what’s on top. So much so in fact that I normally pair them with a plain black or grey sweater and let the bottom half do the talking. So in my head, throwing on the new leather jacket was going to make the whole thing look so chic it would hurt.

Now is prob a good time to mention that I attended a wedding this weekend just past. A wedding for which I painted my nails black (a little tradition of mine) and dyed my hair two shades darker. When paired with a hot pink cocktail dress, black opaques and ankle boots it was all quite fun. However, when paired with my ripped jeans, boots and new black leather jacket… well it was just far too biker-chick than chic. Which of course I didn’t fully realise until I had left the house and was half-way down the street. I couldn’t even bring myself to top it off with my aviators (small stupid habit, I pair them with everything). Devastating. But happens to the best of them I guess. Am not giving up, just having a bit of a giggle and trying again tomorrow! X

Oh Lily, is there anything you can't do??

Mystery Swimming Girl

I found this pic several months ago while researching for my Fashion History File. I was obviously on some sort of tangent as I am not sure how it was related to any of my research but I was completely and utterly mesmerised and before I knew it, the mouse was clicking print as I used up the last of my much needed printing credit. Since then, this mystery swimming girl has lived among the many other imagination capturing images on my study wall and I still love it as much as I did the first second I laid eyes on it (Ahh true love, you do exist!). There is something about the extravagance of ending up in a swimming pool while still wearing a dress that I absolutely love! It is a moment that seems to exist only in fantasy as I am well aware – even though I may try to convince myself that I could get caught up in such a moment – I am the type to carefully remove the dress and hang appropriately before entering said pool so as to not completely destroy such a beautiful garment. So there this perfect moment shall stay, captured and placed among others on my study wall. Always a fantasy and maybe, just maybe, one day I’ll get caught up enough to make it a memory…
